Elvis Block Party Aims for Highest Guinness World Record for Most Elvis Impersonators in the Metaverse
Fans Will Have the Opportunity to Engage With and Shape the Future of Elvis on the Blockchain
Run It Wild has partnered with Elvis Presley Enterprises to attempt to set the highest Guinness World Record (GWR) for the most Elvis impersonators in Decentraland, one of the largest metaverses, as part of a broader Elvis-On-Chain strategy and NFT drop. The GWR Elvis Block Party Decentraland event will be held in February and can be accessed at events.decentraland.org. For live updates, follow @elvisoncchain.
The Elvis Block Party in Decentraland will attempt to set the record for the highest number of Elvis impersonators breaking an existing GWR record of 895 Elvis impersonators in Cherokee, North Carolina, in 2014.
“The Elvis Block Party will be the first Decentraland party of its kind and size in the metaverse. Whereas in-person events are limited by geographic proximity and travel, the metaverse has no boundaries, giving Elvis fans new ways to unite at-scale around their love for The King of Rock & Roll,” said Katie Jones, SVP, Entertainment at Authentic Brands Group (ABG), owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises and Iconoverse.
What to expect at The Elvis Block Party
The Elvis Block Party will welcome Elvis fans from around the world to honor the music, dance moves, outfits, cars, movies and enduring legacy of The King of Rock & Roll. The party will be held in Decentraland. Attendees will be able to access Elvis wearables from an airdrop including an Elvis jumpsuit and an iconic Elvis-styled wig. An Official GWR Adjudicator will attend and announce the record against key guidelines set for the world-first.
The Elvis Block Party in Decentraland is part of a larger Elvis-On-Chain strategy to give fans ownership rights for the future of Elvis’ vault, allowing fans direct access to the vault, placing the power in fans’ hands while allowing Presley’s legacy to live on forever.
Elvis Genesis Key NFTs
Buyers of the 1935 one-of-a-kind Elvis Genesis Key NFTs will not only receive the Elvis-inspired Decentraland wearables each, but also have the opportunity to vote on future releases from the vault and shape the future of Elvis on the blockchain. The Elvis vault contains never-before-seen memorabilia and artifacts ranging from outfits, recordings, cars, jewelry to digital artworks.
A members-only Discord will give voting rights for future collections, privileges, exclusive events and opportunities to connect with like-minded fans.
Bringing Elvis Memorabilia On-Chain
A portion of the funds raised from the NFT drop will be used to buy Elvis memorabilia that will be authenticated on-chain. Acquired memorabilia will be displayed in physical and virtual galleries, NFT exhibitions and pop-ups.
Holders of Elvis Genesis Keys will have opportunities to access tickets to attend these showcases physically and virtually as well as voting rights on what memorabilia is purchased and where it will be displayed.
This model for memorabilia acquisition also poses opportunities in the future to fractionalize ownership of these storied assets on-chain, meaning that Genesis NFT holders could be granted early access to buy a part of acquired memorabilia on-chain, that they otherwise may not have been able to acquire individually.
“These NFTs open up many new ways for superfans to come together on a deeper, more intentional level. Voting on the future of Elvis’ vault effectively puts the power back in fans’ hands and creates a more intimate fan club experience on-chain,” said Run It Wild Director Adam De Cata.
The NFTs were inspired by the glimmering lights of “ELVIS,” made famous in his iconic ‘68 Comeback Special that originally aired on December 3, 1968—a moment, widely considered a career highlight, that marked Elvis' return to the stage.
Along with its multiple points of utility, each Elvis on-chain NFT will be a 1-of-1. Uniqueness and rarity are achieved through variation in bulb color and brightness. Each bulb from the ‘68 Comeback Special lighting set has been delicately recreated on-chain and will glow in perpetuity.
Guinness World Record (GWR) has been engaged by Run it Wild (RIW) for the most Elvis impersonators in Decentraland. Elvis-on-chain will share the key guidelines required by the GWR Adjudicator to set the highest record, subject to the final terms of the GWR-RIW contract.
