ABG Icons Take Over the 2022 Met Gala

On the first Monday in May, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley made headlines as A-listers, celebrities and VIPs paid tribute to enduring icons at the 2022 Met Gala.

This year’s theme, “Gilded Glamour,” was a continuation of the Costume Institute’s exhibit “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”

Icons Honored at the Met Gala

Marilyn Monroe

Kim Kardashian transformed into the Hollywood bombshell, wearing the very dress Monroe donned to serenade President John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday in 1962. The dress was designed by Jean Louis and adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals.

Elvis Presley

The red carpet also welcomed the cast of acclaimed director Baz Luhrmann's upcoming biopic, "Elvis"—all of whom dressed in coordinating ensembles by Prada in honor of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

Pictured above are Prada’s designs inspired by Elvis—worn by Austin Butler, Luhrmann, Olivia Dejonge and Catherine Martin.

Luxury Brands on the Carpet

Judith Leiber

Another name that stole the spotlight at fashion's biggest night of the year was Judith Leiber. A symbol of luxury and exuberance, the brand was spotted on stars including Met Gala host Blake Lively, Vanessa Hudgens, Kris Jenner, Gwen Stefani, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Camille Kostek, Avani and Megan Thee Stallion.

Hudgens carried a slim slide pearly black clutch, while Jenner sported the chatelaine silver minaudière and Dee Hilfiger donned an archival Judith Leiber crystal crown clutch.
