It has been an impressive few weeks for athletes across Authentic’s portfolio of action sports brands, including Quiksilver, Roxy, Billabong, Volcom and Spyder. From major tour debuts and international award nominations to high-profile wins, these athletes have broken through and continued to lead in their respective sports. Here’s a look at some of their latest achievements, moments that have defined the season and the brands that have been backing them every step of the way.
CAROLINE MARKS CONTINUES TO MAKE SURFING HISTORY
Roxy athlete Caroline Marks keeps on winning. The surfing all-star clinched her second MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal title at Supertubos, battling tough conditions to edge out Gabriela Bryan with a score of 7.90 to 6.97. The victory marked her seventh WSL Championship Tour win and moves her up to third in the world rankings.
Marks, the reigning WSL World Champion, has also been named the 2025 Waterperson of the Year by the Surf Industry Members Association in recognition of her achievements in surfing.
At just 23, she has already made history—qualifying for the WSL Championship Tour at 13, winning 17 national titles by 15 and earning the 2019 Rookie of the Year award. She will be honored at the Waterman’s Ball in Laguna Beach on Friday, June 13.
BILLABONG ATHLETES MAKE WAVES AT PORTUGAL YOUTH CAMP
Billabong athletes gathered in Peniche, Portugal, for an action-packed three-day experience featuring intensive surf coaching, an exclusive Q&A session with ambassadors Luana Silva, Seth Moniz and Ethan Ewing, and a public signing at the iconic 58 Surf Shop Store. Throughout the trip, attendees enjoyed epic waves and fully immersed themselves in the rich Portuguese culture.
SPYDER UNIVERSITY PROGRAM SCHOOLS PLACE AT 2025 NCAA SKIING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two premier universities in ski racing—both part of Spyder’s University Program—secured the top two spots at the 2025 NCAA Skiing Championships.
The University of Utah claimed the championship title with a first-place finish, with members dressed in their Utah x Spyder X-static race suits, while the University of Colorado earned a strong second-place standing.
ROXY ATHLETES CAROLINE MARKS AND CHLOE KIM NOMINATED FOR 2025 LAUREUS WORLD ACTION SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR
Surfer Caroline Marks and snowboarder Chloe Kim, both Roxy ambassadors, are in contention for this year’s Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year award. The designation honors athletes who excel in action sports, including surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and freestyle motocross.
Both Marks and Kim have made history in their respective fields. Each have earned gold medals—the former at the 2024 Summer Games, the latter nabbing her seventh X Games gold—and solidified their places among the elite in action sports.
The prestigious ceremony, now on its 25th anniversary, celebrates the greatest achievements in sport, recognizing outstanding athletes, teams and sporting moments across multiple categories. Winners will be announced at the awards show in Madrid on Monday, April 21.
VOLCOM’S BENNY MILAM WINS RED BULL HEAVY METAL EVENT
At the recent Red Bull Heavy Metal street snowboarding competition in Boston, Massachusetts, Volcom athlete Benny Milam emerged as the overall men's winner.
Milam’s outstanding performance across multiple zones earned him not only the overall title, but also a coveted CNCPTS x Burton “Rabbit Hole” collection snowboard and cash prize.
Held at landmark locations such as City Hall Plaza and Faneuil Hall, the event attracted more than 20,000 spectators, making it the largest snowboarding audience in the city’s history.
BILLABONG SURFERS INSPIRE YOUTH IN ARGENTINA
In Argentina, Billabong hosted a Surf Day in collaboration with the Costa del Sol Surf School, giving 30 aspiring surfers the chance to compete alongside professional riders. (Notably, some of Billabong’s own athletes trained at the same institute.) The event aimed to promote the sport through exciting activities, giveaways and inspiring talks, fostering a love for surfing within the community.
QUIKSILVER WELCOMES TWO ROOKIES TO WSL ROSTER
Welcome to Quiksilver’s newest surfers on the World Surf League Championship Tour: Jackson Bunch and Marco Mignot.
In his journey to the world stage, Bunch reflected on his performances from amateur competitions in Hawaii to the professional surfing scene, crediting his success to the unwavering support of his family, coaches and mentors. He also shared heartfelt stories about his formative years with the WSL, as well as his dedication to mastering aerial maneuvers and challenges of competing at iconic surf spots.
Mignot, meanwhile, spoke about his multicultural upbringing as a French-Mexican surfer, particularly his deep connection to the vibrant Sayulita community and evolution from boogie boarding. His early inspirations included pro surfer Kelly Slater, and he looked back at his wildcard breakthrough moment and competitions against surfing legends like Gabriel Medina.
