The first authorized scripted series about Ali’s life, produced in part by Authentic Studios, premieres all eight episodes on Prime Video.

The Greatest, the first authorized scripted series chronicling the life of Muhammad Ali, tells the story of one of the most recognizable figures in sports history.

Since Authentic acquired Muhammad Ali in 2016, the iconic boxer has been at the center of collections and collaborations with brands including Champion and RVCA. With the launch of Authentic Studios, the company has also brought its portfolio of iconic IP to life through series such as Beckham, Power Moves and EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, telling compelling stories that audiences want to hear, creating new ways for fans to connect with the names they love and introducing these legacies to a new generation.

Now, The Greatest brings the full breadth of Ali’s life and legacy to the screen. Produced by Authentic Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, the series premieres Wednesday, November 4, on Prime Video, with every episode available at once in more than 240 countries and territories.

About the series

The series follows a young Cassius Clay through the personal, professional and political battles he faced inside and outside the ring, set against a changing America. It presents a once-in-a-generation talent fighting for the right to become his own man, and shows a young man from Louisville becoming Muhammad Ali.

The eight-episode series covers well-documented moments in Ali’s life and career, as well as moments that happened outside the spotlight. Its focus is the man himself: a husband, father, brother and son.

Newcomer Jaalen Best stars as Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali. He is joined by Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay and Kai Parham as Rudy Clay. The cast also includes Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston, Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee and Michael Ealy as Malcolm X.

The series was created by Ben Watkins, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Watkins is also directing the first two episodes. Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali’s wife, is an executive producer.

Authentic Studios is joined by Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions and Michael B.
