Big Game Sunday Gets SHAQ-Sized: 10M+ Viewers Tune Into The SHAQ Bowl

Hall of Famer and mega-star Shaquille O’Neal brought his unrivaled game-day energy to 10 Million+ viewers across all platforms with the ultimate Big Game Sunday Kick-Off Show: Mercari Presents The SHAQ Bowl.


Game Time

The live three-hour special, hosted by O’Neal, kicked off at 3 p.m. EST and was available for free viewing on Facebook (@SHAQ) and via SHAQBowl.com. Additionally, The SHAQ Bowl was simulcast by LiveXLive across 20+ other platforms including LiveXLive, YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Twitter and more.

Broadcast live from Tampa, Florida, in a custom-built SHAQ Bowl stadium, the all-new event hosted by Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, 4x Pro-Bowler Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Sarah Walsh featured celebrity competitions, musical performances and a football analysis in the lead-up to the big game.

 
 

The Players

The SHAQ Bowl Halftime Show Presented by Pepsi Stronger Together featured multi-platinum hip hop trio Migos and Shaquille O’Neal aka DJ Diesel. Jack Harlow was announced as the surprise superstar guest in an unforgettable performance. The SHAQ Bowl generated 82.3 million+ social media impressions and 5 billion+ media impressions.

The teams consisted of Diplo, Ezekiel Elliott, Olivia Culpo, Quavo, Steve-O and The Miz representing Team Kansas City and Spice Adams, Drew McIntyre, Nelly, Offset, Tim Tebow and Winnie Harlow for Team Tampa Bay.

The teams competed in challenges such as #PassTheBall Presented by Mercari, Tug-of-War presented by JCPenney, Dance Challenge Presented by Aéropostale, Six-Pack Challenge Presented by Emsculpt Neo, Sauce Showdown Presented by Skillshare, Surf’s Up Challenge Presented by Nautica, Celebrity Dodgeball Presented by Chewy and a Hot Wing Challenge presented by Truff. Papa John’s presented a special performance from Bryson Tiller and showcased the all-new Epic Stuffed Crust with the #EpicStuffs Challenge presented by Papa John’s. Shaq faced off with Sasquatch in an arm-wrestling competition presented by Jack Link’s.

In addition to The SHAQ Bowl Halftime Show Presented by Pepsi Stronger Together, Pepsi Stronger Together partnered with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) to donate $100,000 in grants to help struggling bay-area restaurants. The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA), Pepsi and the NRAEF will award $10,000 grants to Tampa restaurants. BACARDÍ brought game-day excitement with the Coco Conga, the official cocktail of The SHAQ Bowl.

Shaq also took over for Tony Romo on the Corona Hotline and had conversations about the Big Game with friends: Dillon Frances, Reggie Bush, Jamaal Charles and Kay Adams.

The SHAQ Bowl was produced by Medium Rare and ABG Entertainment. Their track record at Big Game Weekend is second to none with some of the most viral events in history including Gronk Beach and Shaq's Fun House. The team is now pulling in huge audiences for primetime broadcasts with the recently produced The Sports Illustrated Awards and SHAQ vs GRONK.
