ABG Brands Were on Full Display at the Star-Spangled 2021 Met Gala

Following a yearlong hiatus, the Met Gala returned in full force on September 13 with the theme “American Independence,” coinciding with the Costume Institute’s exhibit “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” The result was a dizzying display of innovative style and glamorous accessories on some of the most influential figures in fashion, film, music and television. Media coverage of the gala garnered 17.5 billion+ press impressions.

Judith Leiber

Front and center on the beige carpet was Judith Leiber, carried by Kris Jenner, Ciara, Taraji P. Henson, Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Laura Harrier, Leyna Bloom, Precious Lee, Mary J. Blige, Imaan Hammam and Jackie Aina.

Judith Leiber accumulated 112,000+ content impressions across all social media channels.

Geoffrey Beene

Ciara’s Judith Leiber football minaudière complemented her Peter Dundas dress, inspired by famed innovator of American fashion Geoffrey Beene, one of ABG’s most recent acquisitions.

In the 1960s, Geoffrey Beene playfully transformed the traditional American football jersey into floor-length, sequined evening gowns. The Costume Institute’s exhibit this year features a purple gown from Beene’s Fall/Winter 1967-1968 collection.

Marilyn Monroe

Meanwhile, co-host Billie Eilish wore an Oscar de la Renta gown that paid homage to Marilyn Monroe, one of the most iconic names in American fashion.

Eilish’s look was inspired by the black tulle dress that Monroe wore in 1951 to the 23rd Academy Awards, where she presented the Oscar for Sound Recording to 20th Century Fox Studio Sound Department (Thomas T. Moulton, Sound Director) for All About Eve.

Sports Illustrated

Leyna Bloom, the first transgender cover model in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit history, wore a Sports Illustrated x Nasty Gal sweatshirt while she prepped for the Met Gala.

Her final look was accompanied by a golden R2-D2 minaudière from the Judith Leiber x Star Wars collaboration.
