BRICK-AND-MORTAR EXPANSION

NEW NYC FLAGSHIP

Brooks Brothers opened a new flagship store at 195 Broadway in New York City, reestablishing a footprint in the Lower Manhattan neighborhood where the brand was launched more than two centuries ago.

The nearly 10,000-square-foot space took over a portion of the redeveloped ground floor and cellar levels, offering a complete selection of men’s and women’s collections, designed by creative director Michael Bastian. Made to Measure and ready-made suits, as well as pieces exclusive to the location, are also housed at the new flagship.

What’s more, the store incorporates a rotating exhibition of historic items from the brand’s archives, dating back to its founding in 1818. Brooks Brothers currently has two other NYC locations—one at Rockefeller Center and the other on 86th Street and Madison Avenue.

BOSTON’S NEWBURY STREET STORE

Late in 2024, Brooks Brothers brought its quality craftsmanship and timeless designs to Boston.

Located on Newbury Street in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood, the outpost offers a fresh take on classic American styles, housing cashmere sweaters and flannel shirts alongside tailored clothing and formalwear, including Made to Measure suits and shirts.

RED BANK’S NEWEST STORE

Brooks Brothers recently inked a deal for a new 5,300-square-foot store in Red Bank, New Jersey, set to open later this year.

Additionally, a new 5,440-square-foot outpost has opened at Eastview Mall in Rochester, New York. The store features classic men’s and women’s apparel; boys’ clothing available through an in-store catalog; and tailoring and Made to Measure services.

THE FIRST READY-TO-WEAR BUTTON-DOWN DRESS SHIRT

Brooks Brothers pioneered the button-down shirt in 1896, revolutionizing menswear with a design inspired by British polo players.

Today, the Brooks Brothers Oxford Cloth Button-Down Shirt remains an iconic essential celebrated for its timeless style and versatility. Its origin traces back to John E. Brooks, the grandson of the brand’s founder, who noticed that polo players sewed buttons onto their collars to keep them from flapping during matches. He brought the idea back to the U.S., and Brooks Brothers introduced the first ready-to-wear button-down dress shirt, which became an instant classic. This innovation helped define American preppy style, influencing generations of fashion.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of its Original Polo Button-Down, Brooks Brothers launched a star-studded tribute featuring notable celebrities like Chun Wai Chan, Selma Blair, Hasan Minhaj and more. Photographed by Stas Komarovski, the campaign is highlighted by a series of striking black-and-white portraits that showcase the foundation piece’s sophistication. Each of the personalities also gave exclusive interviews, sharing how the Brooks Brothers button-down collar shirt has influenced both fashion at large and their own unique style.

In tandem with the release, the brand launched an out-of-home advertising campaign in Boston; Washington, D.C.; and New York City’s Times Square to promote the anniversary.
