For the first time in tournament history, the World Soccer Championship 2026 will expand to a 48-team format, unfolding across three host nations: the United States, Mexico and Canada. As the world’s game takes center stage across North America, the competition is set to transform cities into cultural hubs where sport, entertainment and community intersect.

A wave of fan experiences and activations by Sports Illustrated are fueling anticipation throughout the summer, giving supporters new ways to engage with the tournament. On the fashion front, these moments arrive in new apparel and lifestyle releases from Reebok, Champion and Aéropostale, where game-day essentials drive expression from the stadium to at-home watch parties.

football frenzy coming to a city near you

Sports Illustrated is kicking off its Beyond the Pitch series with takeovers across four major cities during key World Soccer Championship dates, bringing together fans, athletes and cultural tastemakers in celebration of the global spectacle.

The fandom extravaganza touched down first at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium. The event featured headline performances by rapper-singer Nelly and DJ duo Twinsick, led by producers Alex Ingalls and Casey Schneider. The takeover continued in Dallas, with Gordo taking the stage for a high-energy performance at SILO Dallas. The hospitality-forward series reflects the evolving convergence of sport and culture, with in-person moments driving cultural momentum in the fashion realm well after the final whistle.

As an ongoing event series, Beyond the Pitch transforms the energy surrounding the world’s biggest soccer tournament into a multi-city celebration of music, fashion and nightlife. Star-studded lineups are also coming to Florida and New York, with The Chainsmokers, 50 Cent, Diplo and more slated to perform.

In other news, Sports Illustrated Tickets partnered with Gotham FC as the club’s Official Fan Experience and Ticketing Partner. Building excitement on game days, Sports Illustrated is introducing curated, in-venue activations to elevate the fan experience and bring local communities closer to the action.

Designed as a gathering place for supporters throughout the tournament to enjoy watch parties and recreational programming, Sports Illustrated Stadium will also provide free access to the NYNJ World Cup 26 Jersey Fan Hub during the tournament.

As the official kit sponsor of the Panama National Team, Reebok has unveiled a trio of jerseys that honor the nation’s footballing past while looking toward its future on the international stage.

The Home kit pays tribute to the generations who helped shape Panamanian football through a custom jacquard pattern inspired by key moments in the sport’s history, while the Away kit embraces the team’s “Garra y Corazón” (“Grit and Heart”) mentality, including harpy eagle wing graphics that symbolize strength, resilience and national pride.

Completing the collection, the Third kit arrives in a punchy yet refined blue colorway accented with gold detailing, representing Panama’s evolution and ambition.
